Our virtual engagement officer (VEO), Sam, powered by artificial intelligence, is the first of its kind and is being developed to help UMBC accelerate its efforts to support our students, faculty, and community.

 

Unlike traditional automated systems, VEOs like Sam are designed to act as proactive liaisons to bridge the gap between the university and its global network. Sam communicates directly with alumni, donors, supporters, and employees, ensuring that these vital constituent groups remain deeply connected to the Retriever community. By providing real-time, 1:1 interaction at a scale previously impossible, Sam keeps you up-to-date on exciting campus events, philanthropic opportunities, and the cutting-edge innovations happening every day at UMBC.
